No, I meant to say: possibly I'm able to go back to automake 1.13 - but this 
doesn't solve the problem.
You cannot stop automake development. 

And it doesn't help building any ppa if I'm going back to 1.13 on my machine :)
I'd guess the newer Linux build platforms come with 1.14, period.
