actually, please hold out. I'd like to play with the install hook stuff. I
hadn't thought of that. I think I'm sick, but playing with automake is
perversely enjoyable [1]

this is basically what my patch does.

Problem is, if I do --with-lyxname=foo, what should reLyX be called ?
reLyX-foo ?

and how would the install find the correct reLyX ? Maybe some scheme as
you suggest above might be good as well.

Or is it really worth the bother.
