Yes, that's what it does.
It is quite funny that our converter mechanism allows such a creative usage,
since it was never designed for that.
I was startled when I found I could export filename.lyx to filename.lyx
without LyX imploding. The secret was to use a pseudonym for the
exported file format -- it's really file format LyX but just given a
pseudonym, pLyX.
