The original was ~40kb, the corrupted one ~20kb. For some reason, LyX was freezing when trying to open the corrupted file (maybe unrecognized file ending or similar), but I could open it in a text editor. What I've seen looks quite different from #8854. (And sure do hope I won't get bitten by #8854!)
