I can confirm that this works for me also. I'm not sure what the proper action should be then. If the choice is between (1) having both ps2pdf and pdflatex working without bookmarks or (2) setting the default to pdflatex and keeping the bookmarks I think I would favor (1). I guess that alternatively some \ifpdf vodoo could be used? But that seems like unncessary complication. Thanks for taking a look, Scott
