Actually, it isn't that great, since it covers the real problem, and
also I discovered that the toolbar _position_ is still wrong if you
try to show the affected toolbar (fixed size delimiters in my case).
So I inverstigated further and came up with the attached, which I
think pinpoints the real issue (a missing toolbar initialization) and
fixes the remaining problems for me.
Since I am pretty sure about this one, I'll put this in.

Personally, I don't mind a flood of patches. It encourage people to chip
