Dear all, I'm writing this e-mail in the hope to revive our Google Summer of Code application for 2013.

Performing the application process (together with Stefano) should be straightforward since we still have the GSoC 2011 application on the wiki: http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/GSoC2011 So the real question is whether we have developers ready to mentor any of the 7 ideas that we had last time: http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/SummerOfCode2011Ideas or this latest "horizontal scrollbar" idea. Since we're short on time and in devel manpower, I would suggest that we consider any of the following ideas for GSoC 2013: - Project: Layout editor ( http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/SummerOfCode2011Ideas#toc1 ) - Project: LyX presentation mode ( http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/SummerOfCode2011Ideas#toc3 ) - Project: Improved XHTML export and ePub support ( http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/SummerOfCode2011Ideas#toc5 ) - Project: UI Improvements and non-linear writing enhancements.( http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/SummerOfCode2011Ideas#toc6 ) - Project: Toolbar customization dialog ( http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/SummerOfCode2011Ideas#toc7 ) - Project: Horizontal scrollbar for tables and math ( NULL ) Stefano and I can coordinate the submission project over the weekend, but what we really need to know is whether we have developers willing to mentor any of the ideas above (cc'ing all mentors that volunteered last time). I believe that having even one or two projects mentored over the summer would represent a significant opportunity for LyX in terms of added functionality. It would also allow us to familiarize ourselves with the whole GSoC business and get a better understanding of whether we want to outsource more coding tasks in the future. Either way, we really should give it a try! Regards, Liviu
