I suppose this is outdated code from a time the font definition files missed
the alias substitutions or there were no font definition files at all.

In this case, I recommend to write two files kurier-math.sty and
iwona-math.sty add them to the selection of mathematical fonts.

I would actually set up them as math-version "sans" in the *.sty file and
either add an option "default" to pre-select "sans" as math version or let
the user do this in the LaTeX preamble or in ERT.

Remember that kurier and iwona are quite old packages, maybe the author
did not know better at the time of writing...
