collaboration colors

There has been some discussion on how collaborators mark up documents.
How about having collaborator specific text background colours, with
deletions marked by a rule out instead of being deleted. Only the
primary author would be able to actually delete anything. Likewise, the
primary author would assign the collaborators their colour.
Just a thought.
