I just installed a program called notmuch, and I was told that the debian packaging info is included with the source, so that I could build the official deb packages easily with a single make command. I do not know how much is involved, but would this be possible for LyX as well? One could probably include the rules for other packaging systems as well, and make the building more consistent, and the creation of binaries on Launchpad finally working, or at least much easier to create binaries consistent with the official builds by ubuntu?
