This feels like some kind of underlying problem with how your Qt
installation is interacting with some other program that may be trying to
intercept keystrokes and, in the process, is modifying them. What other
programs do you have running in the background? What language are you
using? Are you using special, or different, keyboard layouts for different
programs?
It turned out to be the Norton security suite offered by Comcast (ISP in
Colorado). Once I uninstalled Norton the problem went away.
Interestingly though, the problem also went away when running Lyx in
administrative mode. Anyway, here is a summary;
OS: Windows 7 64x
Extra Programs Running: Norton security suite
Language: English
Keyboard Layouts: all uniform and standard.
Solution: administrative mode for lyx or uninstall Norton
I wound up uninstalling Norton because the problem was showing up in
other programs; Sorry, I don't remember which ones.
