1. our current svn history is linear. can we maintain somehow the old links
   so one get quickly from "r31345" commit number disseminated everywhere
   in bugs/commits/emails to the commit contents? we could for example
   let the old svn/trac trunk live and only add git somewhere else so all
   http links still work.

2. in general git model the linear numbering of commits makes no sense but
   for our small lyx pond containing ~15 semi-active devs the real workflow
   would be still linear (at least from the trunk view).
   before digging into details does it make sense for other developers trying
   to maintain linear numbering "somehow" for the main tree?

   (we could have some commit hook for automatic adding of such numbers and 
support
   for this mapping via http as well... maybe there are already existing
   hacks for such usage, dunno. the main question is whether this is worth
   trying from the pov of others.)
