This has been discussed earlier on the list [1] and there were two basic ideas proposed: - provide a download button that would automatically install the latest stable 'lyx2lyx' dir into the user's profile. There were security concerns and no one volunteered to maintain such a feature. - provide a message to the user explaining how to work around this problem, namely to manually download and install the latest stable 'lyx2lyx' dir. This could work but requires some advanced knowledge from the user, plus it could potentially create problems in future upgrades (when the user would need to repeat the operation).
