From what I understand, the spellchecker is not supposed to be working if Hunspell is selected and the 'Hunspell path' is not specified at all. Then it would make sense to inform the user of this: since 'Hunspell path' is empty by default, then when the user selects Hunspell (and the 'path' is still empty) there could be a pop-up informing the user of this. This would be similar to the tooltip used in Prefs > UI > Single instance: it informs the user that for the checkbox to become available, the user should first specify a lyxpipe path. > There are 2 versions of dictionaries around.
