It most likely won't be in 1.1.6, this feature (and the whole new
InsetGraphics) is my responsibility and I've been lagging a bit. It will
most probably give it its initial appearance in 1.2.0 which is the version
after 1.1.6.
You can actually a limited version of the new InsetGraphics (with no
inline viewing or automatic conversion) in the currently lyx if you do:
M-x graphics-insert
This will have hardly any additional feature compared to the current
FigInset, It doesn't have the inline viewing but it allows easy switching
from inline to non-inline image (a non-inline image is one that shows as
part of the line as opposed to the inline image that has its own line).
