I'm tackling this in the new InsetGraphics, I actually already have a
converting rules addition for lib/configure, but I don't see a real reason
to do the same thing for InsetFig. I believe that I'll finish
InsetGraphics in time for 1.2.0 so waiting a bit is not so bad.

The .fig files are a bit of a problem since they require a custom input
and so effectively require the insertion of the ExternalInset into the
GraphicsInset. There was a discussion about this a while back and I was
convinced that the better route is to make the GI into a subset of the EI.
This will give more power and make the EI more user-friendly, by adding
inline viewing of the intended output.
