If he's talking about 1.1.6, then that was the intended behaviour, yes.
I have been persuaded that this is a bad thing by others and have changed
things in my tree. Will submit soon.
Actually, I changed things primarily to fix a bug reported by Rob Lahaye.
Namely:
* the Ref form should have an Apply button so you can do things to different
references without having to close/open the popup again.
* Using the same dialog for both "Insert new cross reference" and "show this
reference", but displaying more/less info for each leads to problems when you
go from one to the other without closing the popup first.
Both bugs squished by using the same popup unchanged for the two cases,
giving the room to put on extra buttons.
