I'm not finding either bug with 4.4.2. And now, switching back, I'm not finding the crashing bug with 4.7.2 at all, and the "annoying bug" happens only the first time after I launch LyX; subsequent tries work without any problem. (Perhaps this was true of the "annoying bug" before, but because LyX was crashing regularly I couldn't see it.) So, if Stephan isn't able to confirm, let's call it a false alarm for now. BH
