Sure I would help in this task.
Actually, for me is good because this way I may understand better how LyX
works which will be important to contribute strongly in the near future.

Who usually compile the code?
I have not tried to create an installer because I really don't know what's
missing and what's not in this compilation (dictionaries/aspell, thesaurus,
converters, etc) and the directory tree of my compilation is also different
from the installer one. I would like to understand better how they are
included/arranged to provide a better compilation.
