It would be an interesting way to teach LaTeX--no need to maintain student computers. I don't use Google docs, so I don't understand the overall view of this, but I did open their test document, edit it, and compile it. It won't compete with LyX or ScientificWord, but certainly with Emacs/AucTex, TexMaker, or TexPower. I'd say it completely beats the hell out of Emacs, actually, if only I could run their thing "in" my system, not on theirs. I was thinking it might give LyX developers some ideas about how to make the LaTeX gui more convenient. They have most of the usual math and symbol inserters, etc. They have a icon labeled "Above and Below" that leads to a couple of LaTeX environments I have never seen before, like \overbrace{}^{}.
