The difference may be that the share, in my case, is sitting on a
Linux machine running Samba.
Anyway, if you want to try to debug it, the only way forward, I think,
is to put some debugging code into the routines I mentioned and see if
you can find out where it's failing.
Separate from the sight of C++ code triggering recurring nightmares :-),
I've had bad luck in the past trying to compile LyX from source. I
think it was dependency issues, but I gave up pretty quickly. If
someone would care to insert a few prints and send me the modified
binary, I'd be happy to test it. My office machine (where I can do the
testing) has LyX 1.6.5. I suspect it would be easier to hack that
version (presumably I would then only need one modified file, not a full
new install).
You might also put something into trac, and see if that gets more
attention.
I plan to do that, but I was hoping I could be a bit more specific than
"copying doesn't happen".
