I think this is the right test.
If you also know how to display

"The following table details the current state of the translations of the LyX
GUI for the LyX stable branch (version 1.6.9svn), which will become the next
maintenance release."

on the stable i18n site as opposed to

"The following table details the current state of the translations of the LyX
GUI for the LyX development branch (version 2.0.0svn), which will become the
next major release."

on the trunk site (and having "development branch"/"stable branch" as well as
"maintenance release"/"major release" translatable), that would be great.

If you go to http://www.lyx.org/I18n and edit it, you get this info:

To update the information in the table below, check out |<www-user>| from the SVN repository. Then replace and commit the file:
|<www-user>/farm/cookbook/LyX/i18n.inc|

Committing automatically deploys the file to the web server (it can take a few seconds).

Note that the file |i18n.inc| is automatically generated from the po files. To update the web site, issue |make i18n.inc| in the |po/| directory of the lyx stable branch, and replace the file in <www-user> with the autogenerated file. Do not edit the file manually, and do not use the development branch!

It appears that the version number is set in po/Makefile. Probably that should be updated automatically from elsewhere?
