Hi,

When I select a math-input expression x in LyX, go to the minibuffer, and
put in, say, math-delim | |, I get |x|, as desired; that is, math-delim is
smart enough to automatically wrap selected math expressions.

But if I create a math macro that assigns \absval{} to \left|#1\right|, then
going to minibuffer and putting in math-insert \absval does not
automatically wrap selected math expressions; if, say, x were selected, then
putting math-insert \absval in to the minibuffer simply writes over x,
leaving a blank space between the two delimeters | |.

So, a feature request: Might there be a way to enter a math macro using the
command buffer than automatically puts selected text inside the first
argument of the macro? That way one could, for example, create a keyboard
shortcut in Preferences... to the corresponding math macro that correctly
wraps selected math expressions.

Thanks!
Jacob
