I'm still wondering what precisely people want here. Porting LyX to an AJAX application would be possible, but not something we on the development team have anything near the time to do. So let me ask what I asked before: What is it that people want to be able to do that you can't do via version control? If the answer is "Edit a document simultaneously with someone on the other side of the planet, with both of us instantly seeing each other's changes", then I'd suggest learning about the LyX server and seeing if there isn't some way to adapt it to do the necessary work by tunnelling a connection over ssh.
