Hi,

I'm afraid you are missing my point. You really should USE the Mathematica
system before deprecating it; I've used it, "raw" TeX, and LyX, and it is by
far the best. The issue is not command-M, the issue is that things that require
three key strokes in Mathematica, all easy single keys, require dancing around
the keyboard in LyX. Command-M, then \, then alp, then tab.
And, as I said, a second important issue is muscle memory --- one simply wants
to be able to use the same input system across apps.

OK, while we wait for this to be resolved,
(1) How do you use esc, as you claim, in key bindings. I tried to do so a few
months ago and could never figure out a way to express it.
I wanted to be able to create macros that are triggered by esc-a-esc, and the
language seemed completely unable to express this.
BTW F1 is not a useful substitute, not least because I use a Mac and F-keys on
Macs requires chording.

(2) Your bug system is obviously horrendously slow, and must be extremely
painful for you to use every day. Do you know why it is so slow --- lack of
CPU, RAM, or fast disk? Would a donation of $1000 help speed it up and get LyX
bugs fixes happening a little faster?

Maynard
