Huh.. I can use Ctrl+Shift+F and search in the "Entire solution".
That means that you have a *.sln file or MSVC project file,
respectively? I don't have this and failed several times to create one.
LyX's sourcecode needs much more comments. Especially
the metrics and drawing business is nowhere documented.
(This is not your fault, just a comment to "release some
steam", as we say in Germany.)

You already precisely answered my question.
Concerning the comments. Perhaps we should set up a rule how to comment
the code. I think it would be a good idea to add comments what the code
does when e.g. simplifying the code. Some colleagues do this already,
some not.
