This happens in the first child document. The problem here:
return d->cloned_buffer_;
is that d = 0.
I don't really understand why this doesn't work anymore. AFAIR
multipart documents used to work just fine last time I touched this
part of the code...
I'm puzzled, too. But this is #6516, anyway.
