My "no warranty" kde patch did everything necessary to get kde to compile. It
doesn't do anything remarkable, just change pointers for references, so I
think you could safely apply it to your branch locally and test it out.
Actually, it was the comments in your files that convinced me to do this in
the first place. ;-)
