as written in another message one example is that qsettings is quite destructive once the key set doesn't exactly fit. it simply kills everything. just try to run trunk, make some settings, then run branch. now running trunk means you have to make your settings again. our own setting behaves much better in this regard. also debugging is not so nice when you go to the config file to check something. try to make some sense from the 0\prefs\geometry=@ ByteArray(\x1\xd9\xd0\xcb\0\x1\0\0\0\0\x2\xd7\0\0\0\xb3\0\0\x5\x87\0\0\x2\x9c\0\ 0\x2\xd7\0\0\0\xb3\0\0\x5\x87\0\0\x2\x9c\0\0\0\0\0\0) pavel
