Won't this fail if someone has an old version of LyX installed, and
there is an invalid pipe specified in the old configuration?

I'm really interested in whether you think doing this through
environment variables is a good idea. Then I could configure
SumatraPDF with something like "echo server_goto_file_row:%f %l>
%LYXPIPE%". An additional bonus for doing it this way: let's say I
have two LyX windows open. If the second one opened "lyxpipe.in.2",
then in principle, SumatraPDF could communicate with the correct one.

BTW, are there any ill effects from not flushing lyxpipe.out after
writing to lyxpipe.in?
