The work around you suggested seems to work, so putting
\providecommand{\lyxadded}[3]{#3}
\renewcommand{\lyxadded}[3]{{\color{lyxadded}{}#3}}
in the preamble seems to solve the problem.

Kurt, a workaround is probably to put the following line in the
preamble:
\providecommand{\lyxadded}[3]{#3}
\renewcommand{\lyxadded}[3]{{\color{lyxadded}{}#3}}
