The crucial question for me is now, if these dialogs can only be 
accessed if a
buffer is loaded or if they cannot be accessed at all on the Mac.
If the latter, we need to release a LyX 1.6.4.1 for Mac users really 
soon, if
the former, the issue is less pressing.

In my case they can't be accessed at all.

Are you they cannot be accessed when at least a document is loaded? This 
seems very strange to me.
I can try to chack later today, but not right now.
