I just remembered that lots of Lyx stuff is in python. Now I know why
you were asking.
I don't know python. The only thing that stopped python totally taking
over the world is the white-space rule and sadly I'm one of those
people who can't get past that issue. Every time I think I'll maybe
learn python, part of my brain rebels and says "no!"

Yes, indeed.
LyX even installs python on machines where it is not available yet. So
we are sure that we can run python scripts.
