If use is made of the button controller and an appropriate ReadOnly policy
then all the dangerous bits can be disabled. The Goto/GoBack button can
still work and the user gets to see a full list of references within a
document. So you'd get (or should get) similar functionality to that
provided by the Refs menu entry.

The key in the button could be made editable so you would still be working
in the buffer instead of an automatically opened dialog. Either that or
switch to WindowMaker and set "Automatically focus new windows" and "Open
dialogs in same workspace as their owners". That way your hands stay on
the keyboard.
