On Mac, saving preferences results in *all* open document windows
cycling through:

View Outline > View Source > (un)View Outline > (un)View Source

This also happens when returning from full screen view to normal view,
but here (a) it happens only to the frontmost window and (b) it seems
to have a point in the case of View Outline since (on Mac) it's
switching from having the outline appear as a docked widget (in full
screen view) to having it appear as a drawer (in normal view).
However, I don't see why View Source is toggled on and off in this
situation.
