Thanks Vincent, I panned to test the QProcess thing. But now I'm too annoyed to invest more time for LyX. The idea was to commit the patch posted at beginning of this thread and to see how big the probems are, especially Pavel's svn code. http://marc.info/?l=lyx-devel&m=124136994215110&w=2 After solving the problems, I had planned to integrate my previous GUI patches: http://www.lyx.org/trac/browser/lyx-devel/branches/personal/kuemmel/progress_meeting/progress_27463_to_27652.patch I think this would be a interesting work with a huge improvement of the current usability in times of multi-core processors. Feel free to commit what's necessary and usefull. Peter
