It seems like a different issue. Having an XML file format is one thing,
and being able to export to HTML is another thing. Of course, if we had
the XML format, you could try using XSLT to do the HTML, but then you
have the same problem as with the python approach, e.g., with BibTeX,
custom styles, etc.
