With http://www.lyx.org/trac/changeset/29220 I have implemented support to set a background color
for documents.
Setting a background color might be useful or not - I leave the decision to the users. Those who
need it can set it otherwise everything will be kept as is.
(Personally I used it when sending different revisions of a file to several colleagues. To work on
revisions we add notes to the PDF so nothing is printed. The background color makes the revision
directly visible (light green, light blue, ...))
Besides this new feature I plan to implement a proper color setting for text the same way. Currently
we only provide, red, green, blue, magenta, cyan, white, and yellow so users have to learn LaTeX
only to be able to set text in e.g. orange because the company brand has always to be set orange in
texts.
So the plan is tho use the color setup of background color also for the text
style dialog.
