I did not follow this discussion but I hope that this patch does not
suppress the
possibility to create its own format to be able to use its own compiler.
I do it
and use it to compile many documents which cannot be compiled with lyx
compilers (for example using pst-pdf or compiling with vtex) Precisely, I do
it creating a new format and defining the compiler (converter) from
LaTeX (standard)
to my format which is an external application.
