FYI, I have put up binaries for the Eeepc 701. http://www.ucc.asn.au/~mccabedj/eeepc/lyx-1.5.7-eeepc.tar.bz2 http://www.ucc.asn.au/~mccabedj/eeepc/lyx-1.6.2-eeepc.tar.bz2 This is just a tar of /usr/local/lyx-1.6.2, and should not interfere with any version installed with dpkg. It is a little difficult to compile on the Eeepc since it comes with no devel libraries and only 1.4GB of free space. These were compiled under etch with -march=pentium-m. Debian discourages user supplied binaries as this encourages the spread of viruses etc., but Asus provides almost no support for the Eeepc (don't expect official Asus debs for lyx any time soon), AFAICT there are no viruses, and I have not noticed any problems with either of these tarballs. That said, if any one wants to use them and you already have the etch repositories, you can cd wget -c http://www.ucc.asn.au/~mccabedj/eeepc/lyx-1.6.2-eeepc.tar.bz2 cd /usr/local sudo tar -jxvf ~/yx-1.6.2-eeepc.tar.bz2 sudo aptitude install lyx aspell-en # install lyx (1.4.3) to get all lyx dependancies. # You need aspell-en to spell check english documents in LyX /usr/local/lyx-1.6.2/bin/lyx # run lyx -- John C.
