So git svn clone is the only viable solution for devvies wanting to use
git-svn? That takes a long time and the conversion unless precautionas
are taken is not really nice.

mail and lyx.org addresses can be easily accomplished by moving all
mailhandling to google f.ex. (I have done that for gullik.org, but sure
I do not have much experience with a larger site doing the same)
(but the administration and the fear of uptime and accessability has
just gone.)

Of what you mention above I think very little cannot be done with
sf.net. (and in the cases where sf.net cannot provide it should be easy
enough to have/getthat service in a different place/means.)

main ftp is not on aussie
malinglist (mainly) is not on aussie
dns servers is not on aussie (I moved all that to get less hassle when
servers move, albeit a bit more limited than havinig full dns server
control, it is a lot easier to deal with)
