No, it was a debug build.. still it is a bit long I think. The example just involves hitting enter anywhere in the User's guide.

My frustrations started when I put some articles together as child documents in a master document. Instantly, LyX become very slow due to the updateMacros() function. This was with the 1.6.1 official release.

Which kind of CPU do you use? I am working on my (200+ pages) thesis with 10 children documents. It works fine. All on a 2GHz Core2Duo.

Can't say exactly now.. but it's high-end..

One master document, with only a few chapters as childs and things are very slow.. I did not yet succeed in figuring out the exact problem or the minimal document to reproduce. I was though triggered when I added a document which has a macro defining /ert....
