No, and that is the problem. The only version that is compatible to both versions is Python 2.6.x.

That's not entirely the case either. See the last section of:

If I interpret that correctly, final porting to Python 3 should not be made until it is certain that all platforms that run LyX support Python 3. Though, starting to turn on the -3 command line switch now is probably a good idea. However, there are a lot of persons who knows much more about this than me (José!).
