Hi Maximilian,
Are you still interested in setting up a German version of the web site?
If so, we could discuss it now as the site has been stable for some time.
Here's a question:
Would every page have to be translated? (This would also mean having to
update a German translation regurlarly, which may well be more work than
we can actually manage)
regards,
Christian
(Apologies for getting back so late)

I actually wanted to post this in the documentation list, but all
discussions about the new website seem to take place either here or on
the users list. I wanted to ask whether an internationalization of the
website is planned and if not, make a proposal for it and offer my help
for translating it to German and keeping the translation up to date. I
think that good open source projects should have project websites in
more languages than just English, especially if they offer the software
in languages other than English. Even though I know English quite well,
I like to surf German websites and if I get the choice, I always tend to
choose a German page instead of an English page. I think that LyX would
also benefit from a website in several languages. I have had some
thoughts about joining the docs team and help translating but I took a
look at the translation process and it seemed to complicated for me. As
for a website however, it is a lot easier even for an average user to
translate it.
Kind regards,
