Some people were pondering re-doing tex2lyx in python. There even seems
some bits of python out there which understand TeX.

  
Yes, plastex seems very promising indeed. And when we go to XML, it may 
well be worth considering tex2lyx as a plastex "renderer". Might be very 
good. Hard to know.
