Dear LyX developers,
I am using LyX 1.1.4fix3 (I know, there is a later version, but there
is not yet a Debian package, and I am already very happy with the
version I have) and I wanted to give at least some feedback:
1) In general I am very happy with LyX! It is a nice tool and I
haven't used the auctec emacs mode now for a long time. Thanks a lot!
2) Sometimes it is very useful to copy and paste a column of a
table. Is there any way to do this (except doing copy and paste of
each cell individually)?
3) Related to this: It would be nice to be able to do some simple
spreadsheet like computations in tables. What about building an
interface to gnumeric?
4) It happend to me that latex did not terminate (by inserting \\ in
latex mode to a tabular cell), that LaTeX did not terminate, which
looks like Lyx crashed. It was nice that I got useful error messages,
after killing latex manually. Maybe it is worth to add a netscape like
stop button to lyx which kills latex in such situations, because the
linux novice would not know what to do.
5) One of the major advantages of Microsoft Word currently often
quoted in my environment is the group features. I.e. if I send a word
document to a colleague it is possible for him to make changes, and if
he sends it back, I see the changes and his comments
highlighted. Although I am currently CVSing my important documents, it
is virtually tell somebody look at the CVS diff of the lyx file.
If there are some programming task, which are reasonably independent
of lyx (i.e. not figuring out how lyx works internally for 3 weeks and
programming for 3 days), I could try to find some resources to do
these things. Especially the group functionaly is important (but I
guess this is also not trivial).
Thanks a lot.
Rainer
