Great idea.
Or we could also put the author first in order to make use of the sort
check box:
author1 - Deletion: aaaa
author2 - Insertion: bbbb
author1 - Insertion: cccc
author1 - Insertion: dddd

Ideas? Comments, Objection?
Well, I would like two have two choices:
- Grouped by author -> Sorted according to the place in the document.
- Sorted according to the place in the document.
It looks like this is what you mean by the last option you gave above.
Yes.
PS. Wouldn't it be possible to introduce context menus in the navigator.
Everything's possible ;-)
For example, it would be nice to right-click a change and select
Accept/Reject, or right-click a Note to change it into a comment, etc.
This kind of context menu should be primarily in the work area, directly
when you right click on an inset. Look at the hspace inset for an
example of how to do this for the note inset (you might need a new
LFUN). WRT to your idea of context menu in the navigator, I think a
simple solution would be to reuse the already existing one.
Moreover, then you can easily make a checkbox whether you would like to
group by authors or not. Also Pavel would be happy to have a
'Freeze-option' available without 'an additional control that
encumber[s] the dialog'.
That's a good idea.
