To reproduce: Insert two tables or ERT boxes, then try to click between
them. You can't!
Place the cursor between the tables (using arrow keys), then place the
mouse cursor on top of the text cursor with pixel accuracy. Click, and
see how the text cursor strangely jumps into the table on the left.
The same happens with ERT boxes, and probably a lot of other insets too.
I don't think the text cursor should ever move when the user clicks on
it. And every possible cursor location should be reachable by mouse
click too. Seems the insets eats nearby clicks. They don't have to, for
they are not zero-sized.
The problem exists in 1.6svn as well as 1.5
