LyX is a wonderful and useful tool. I hope you don\'t get tired of hearing that! I am very happy to see LyX in active development. It is a tools I am sure I will be using for many years. I came to Linux three years ago and I began the lengthy process of re-education after years of working with Microsoft products and developing Windows applications. Within a few months I discovered LaTeX. I understood the many benefits of storing my files in a tagged ASCII format. I was excited about all the conversion tools available and the super high quality documents one could produce. I even went out and bought a couple of LaTeX books. The more I read, the more excited I became! Oh, the wonderful things you can do with LaTeX! Then reality began to sink in. Manually entering all those tags is a real pain! Ultimately, my LaTeX books went back on the shelf. LaTeX became \"a good thing that I\'ll learn one day.\" A couple of weeks ago, I installed Mandrake 7.1 and there on the \"Office\" menu was LyX. I fired it up and began to play. I could figure much out, so I threw up my hands. Then I read a couple of articles about LyX on the internet that encouraged me to read the documentation, go through the tutorial, and give LyX a chance. WOW! I am sure glad I did! I still have loads to learn, but LyX has given me confidence to press on. It is an amazingly powerful program and I am very excited about its future. I also wanted to add a special note to all who are working on the documentation. Kudos! It is thorough and copius and I truly appreciate the effort required to produce it. In addition to helping work with LyX, your clear explanations have helped me understand some aspects of LaTex that I didn\'t quite get before. Thank you!
