We did. The patch is OK but Vincent will build in support for \{ then it will
go in.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought that the from_utf8 part should be backported, so I quickly did
it. Of course also the rest of the patch can and should be backported.

I wasn't sure what to write, since I only backported a part of the patch. All a
big misunderstanding.
I will btw. be off longer the next weeks and cannot do the backport work.
